Course description: This course is designed to highlight the recent changes in the State Practice Act in Wisconsin. A general introduction of concepts related to jurisprudence and licensure will be followed by an in-depth examination of the changes to the State Practice Act. Finally, application of these changes will be explored using clinical scenarios. This course is designed for physical therapists and physical therapists in Wisconsin who need 2.0 hours of continuing education credit in the area of jurisprudence for licensure renewal.
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
- Describe jurisprudence, State Practice Acts, administrative rule, Physical Therapy Examining Board and administrative law procedure.
- Describe the specific changes in PT Chapters 1 through 9 in Wisconsin.
- Apply changes in PT rule to clinical scenarios and situations.
- Identify other resources utilized in legal and ethical decision making.
