PTA Only’s Instructors
Shari Berry PT, DPT
Shari Berry graduated from UW-La Crosse with a BS in Physical Therapy in 1994. She went on to complete a transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy in August of 2007 from Simmons College in Boston, MA. She is certified in Vestibular Rehabilitation by Herdman and has a Certificate of Gerontology from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse. She has 20 years of clinical experience in rural, inpatient, outpatient, sub-acute and skilled nursing care. She is currently program chair and has been an instructor for a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program since 2005. Her primary teaching responsibilities include neuro-rehabilitation, kinesiology, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, introductory and capstone professional courses. She has served in various positions for the West Central District of the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association.
Jeff Komay PTA, BS
Jeff Komay graduated from Western Technical College in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1993 with a Physical Therapist Assistant degree. In addition, he has added a BS in Career and Technical Education and Training from the University of Wisconsin- Stout. He has been a full time instructor for a Physical Therapist Assistant Program for the past 17 years. He also served as Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education for 14 of those years. Jeff has recently completed his Recognition of Advanced Proficiency for the PTA in Education PT.
During his time in education, he has taught most courses in the PTA curriculum. Jeff has experience presenting various workshops both locally and statewide. He has varying clinical experience working in rural hospital, nursing home, outpatient and private practice outpatient settings. In addition, he has been involved in the PT profession on both the state and local level in various capacities.
Scott Ziolkowski PT, DPT, OCS
Scott Ziolkowski is a physical therapist who has more than a decade of experience as a clinician in outpatient orthopedics, hospital based acute care, SNF rehabilitation, and home health physical therapy. His passion is teaching physical therapy to PTA’s; the people who are ‘in the trenches’ working with patients and making a difference. Scott earned a BS in biology from UW-La Crosse in 1997, a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from The College of St. Scholastica in 2000, and a transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Concordia University Wisconsin in 2010. He is a board certified clinical specialist in orthopedics who currently works as a fulltime instructor in a PTA program and part-time as a physical therapist in out-patient orthopedic and SNF settings. He has presented multiple seminars geared toward PTA clinical skills. In his free time, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children; fishing, skiing, hunting, coaching youth sports, and anything else that involves being outside!
